Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300)
A temporary visa to come to Australia and marry a fiancé who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
OUR EXPERTISE
Subclass 300
Subclass 300 is for a couple who intend to marry. It is not the visa for a couple who are already married or already de facto partners.
After the marriage, a partner visa can be lodged.
Requirements
- The sponsor is an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
- Both people have met in person, and they were adults when they met.
- They genuinely intend to marry within the period the visa allows, and to live together as spouses.
- Both are free to marry.
- The sponsor meets the sponsorship requirements.
- Health and character requirements.
What the visa is for
- It is a temporary visa. It is not permanent residence.
- The marriage takes place within the period the visa allows.
- A partner visa is a separate application after the marriage. See the onshore partner visa.
Evidence of the intention to marry
- Evidence the couple have met in person.
- A notice of intention to marry, or other evidence of the planned wedding.
- Evidence the relationship is genuine, including contact while the couple have been apart.
